How it works.
Brainspotting is a mind-body therapy that helps you process and heal from heavy emotions, difficult experiences, and trauma, without having to necessarily talk about it.
It works by holding specific eye positions (brainspots) to release memories, emotions, and physical sensations stored in your brain and body.
This process allows your brain to do what it naturally wants to do, which is find a sense of safety and balance.
What can I expect in a brainspotting session?
1. Resourcing:
We’ll begin by finding a few resource spots in your body where you feel most calm, grounded, or neutral. These places become your anchors where you could always return to when things feel intense.
2. Set up:
Next we’ll pick what you want to focus on, noticing where you feel sensation most in your body. I'll move a pointer across your visual field and together we'll find a spot where you feel the sensation the strongest.
3. Process:
You'll then hold your gaze on that spot, gently noticing what your brain and body remember. My role is to guide and support you throughout the process.
4. Wrap up:
We’ll finish up by checking in on your level of activation and practice grounding in the present moment. Many people report feeling more calm, centered, and connected.
